The Apogee SNMP Management System provides support for all Sat-Light fiber optic modules, redundancy
switches and power supplies. The Apogee SNMP Management System is built on a rack mounted module
and an integrated graphical SNMP manager. The Apogee 2050E is a standalone unit with the same integrated graphical SNMP as the shelf mounted unit.
The Java-based graphical administrative tool is accessible via
standard web or MIB browsers. Apogee supported alarms include transmitter and receiver RF and optical
faults. Monitoring features include power supply, ambient temperature and RF/optical input and output power
The Apogee SNMP system has an RS-232 port for initialization and security settings and an
Ethernet port to connect to the user's LAN.
The Apogee GUI provides an exact graphical representation of Sat-Light modules residing in the chassis.
The status of all the links' operational status is displayed and by clicking on each module; the unit's RF
or optical level is then displayed in dBm. Apogee's graphical application includes:
- Dynamic discovery and detailed graphical
- representation of host chassis and slot contents
- Actual model status indicator enhances usability
- Point-and-click access to setup and
- monitoring options
- Built-in security module for authentication and
- multi-level access control
- Event logging and configurable trap destinations
The open architecture of Apogee's MIB offer management via built-in GUI or on a number of third-party
management systems including, HP OpenView, IBM Tivoli, CA Unicenter and other.
